Something amazing happens when sleeping dogs and babies become best friends — adorable overload! See how blogger Jessica Shyba documented this magical combo.
At some point in life, every child begs for a puppy. Little did Jessica Shyba know that her children's request would transform her blog into a beacon of cuteness — with a side of animal rescue advocacy to boot!
Jessica is the creative mind behind "Momma's Gone City . . . and Back Again," an outlet for the wife, mother, and blogger who is "living to capture as many moments with her family as possible," according to her online bio.
Last holiday season, she began snapping pictures of a gift that her family cherishes dearly — their perpetually sleeping dog, Theo, snuggling her seven-week-old son, Beau.
Adopting a New Puppy
Jessica writes on her blog, "We found [Theo] tucked together with his two siblings in the back yard of the Santa Cruz SPCA. Big Bird — as he was named at the shelter — was the shyest of them all to meet us, though he bounded instantly into Beau's lap as soon as he entered their pen. The look on his little furry face was enough to seal the deal for me; we had met our newest family member."
Theo, a Boxer-Shepherd-Labrador Retriever mix integrated into the family quickly despite starting life as an abandoned, unloved puppy. Most notably, Theo has become a cuddly nap-time companion for Jessica's children.
Time for a Close-Up
Like any proud mother, she's been snapping frame after frame of her children with the adopted puppy. And, like any blogger, the best pictures have landed front and center on her personal space on the web. There, they are admired, adored, and loved by many.
Jessica's eye for coo-worthy moments between her son, Beau, and sleeping dog, Theo, (and the rest of the family) have spawned an Instagram account that has exploded in popularity through the hashtag #theoandbeau. Through Jessica's artful photography, you and her 390,000 other followers can see her little darlings grow and change together.
"I am in the process of writing two children's books that will include photos that haven't been seen of Theo and Beau. Naptime with Theo and Beau releases early February, 2015. Bathtime with Theo and Beau releases early February, 2016 via Feiwel & Friends, a Macmillan imprint. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of the books will go directly to the Santa Cruz SPCA on my own behalf," Jessica commented to Petcentric.
