Every pet has his own way of showing love for his owner, and making sure he gets some of that love back!
Mendy’s Beagle/Jack Russell mix, Bingo, asks for love by lying on the floor, stretching both his front and hind legs out and scooting around on his belly. If that goes unnoticed, he yawns dramatically as if to say, “Hey, I’m down here! Give me some love!”
Debbie, an avid cat lover, has three kitties who show love by vying for her attention. When one cat has snuggled onto her lap, the second cat wedges between Debbie and the first cat. Then the third cat, not to be left out, will get on top of the other two. Debbie is then hosting one big purring pile of cat love. Sometimes, Max, her orange Maine Coon, gets Debbie all to himself. He shows love by lying in her arms like a baby, putting one paw up on her cheek, gazing into her eyes and purring himself to sleep.
Laurie used to pick up Bogey, her Boston Terrier puppy, and give him kisses on his cheek. The little dog loved the kisses. As he got older and was able to jump on the couch by himself, he started coming up to get his own love and kisses. He stands with his paws on her legs and leans his cheek into her lips for a smooch.
Bonita’s 95-pound Black Lab named Maverick demands love and attention by running in circles around Bonita and her husband, then does laps around the yard until he gets his petting.
Julie’s shorthair Tabby, Simon, gives cat love by making his nest in Julie’s hair and sleeping on her head each night, purring in her ear. Her other cat, Chance, sleeps in a ball on her husband’s chest.
Renee’s Calico cat, Cassatt, showed extreme cat love. She also slept on her owner’s head, but would purr and lick Renee’s ear and cheek endlessly. When Renee could take the loving licks no more, she’d push Cassatt off the bed. The determined kitty would hop right back up and lick some more, no matter how many times she was asked to leave. If one of Renee’s kids crawled in bed with her, the Calico would wedge herself between Renee and the child to make sure she got the most love and attention.
When Richelle’s cat, Hank, wants love, he's a Maine Coon on a mission. If the usual meowing and rubbing up against her legs doesn't coax her to pet him, he's found a way to get exactly what he wants. He nudges his nose under the side of her foot and pushes with all 20 pounds of his Maine Coon weight. This persists until she lifts her foot from the floor, allowing the cat to walk back and forth beneath it, purring and pressing himself against it from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail.
Katie’s Lab puppy, Riley, shows his dog love when she’s watching TV. Her lab lies on her chest, nuzzles into her neck and lets out deep sighs. But in a display of selfless dog love, when her husband is out of town, Riley chooses to sleep on the hard ceramic floor by the front door, to protect her, rather than on his super cushy doggie bed.
Lindsay’s friendly, attention-craving, 110-pound Golden Retriever, Prince, leaps onto the bed and stands over her until she gives him the love he wants – a nice petting.
