Saint Patrick's Day is all about celebrating good luck and fortune. What better way to spend this day than dressing up your pet in outfits and accessories that mark the occasion. For example, a few years ago I decided to take my Yorkshire Terrier with me to a Saint Patrick's Day event and wanted him to wear something that made him look festive. Since I was already wearing green from head to toe, I decided to deck out my dog in a similar fashion. I found all the green garb I needed for my dog at my local pet store. Most pet stores carry seasonal pet costumes and accessories throughout the year.
How to Choose a Saint Patrick's Day Pet Costume
If you want your pet to look dapper in his Saint Patrick's Day garb, look for dress-up costumes that really shout shamrocks and good luck. You could simply go with a costume that your pet wears on his own, or you could even look for a costume set so that you and your pet match. For example, you and your pet can both wear matching shamrock-shaped headbands or bright green T-shirts. Or, maybe you could dress up your pet like a pot of gold and then you could wear a headband with a large rainbow going through it. It's important to keep in mind, however, that the most important factor to consider when selecting a costume for your pet is safety. Your pet's costume should not be flammable, restrict vision, or present a choking or suffocation hazard. Make sure his outfit fits properly and that it does not constrict his circulation or cause potential injury or distress. And of course, supervise your pet at all times while he is in his holiday garb. A few great Saint Patrick's Day costume options include:
Costumes made from green or gold fabrics
Costumes covered in shamrocks or words related to luck and good fortune
Head pieces and hats that comfortably frame your pet's face to look like a leprechaun
Once you pick out your pet's costume, go ahead and take her out on the town to let her show off her new attire. If you want to dress up your pet for Saint Patrick's Day with friends, consider putting together a fun costume party with your friends and their pets so that you can both socialize. Really go all out when you dress up your pet and enjoy celebrating together.
