Wire Fox Terrier
The Wire Fox Terrier is thought to have come from crosses of Old English Terriers, Black and Tan Terriers, Bull Terriers, Greyhounds and Beagles in the middle of the 19th century. Hunters used them to locate foxes. Originally, the smooth and wire-haired varieties were classified as one breed. Later, devotees of each coat developed the Wire and Smooth Fox Terriers as we know them today.
