Sussex Spaniel
These are happy, laid-back and adaptable dogs. They make very good pets, but it is important that they are introduced regularly to children, other dogs and cats when young. They love hunting and are sometimes more interested in chasing animals than anything else outside.

Sussex Spaniel
Interest in the breed began with Mr. Fuller, a Sussex landowner. He had large kennels and kept several spaniels. He bred them for working and owned spaniels for 50 years until the 1850’s. By the end of World War II, as few as five Sussex Spaniels remained. Fortunately, Mrs. Freer had devoted her life to breeding the Sussex Spaniel for posterity. Today, this is still a numerically small breed with only 60 to100 registrations each year.
