Dachshund (Miniature Longhaired)
This is an intelligent dog with a mind of its own. Early socialization is required to acclimate Dachshunds to children, strangers and other animals. This breed becomes quite attached to usually one family member and can be less friendly with strangers. Of the three coat varieties, the longhaired Dachshunds tend to be the friendliest, due to the Irish Setters and Spaniels in their lines.

Dachshund (Miniature Longhaired)
Dachshunds can be directly traced back to 15th century Germany. However, Dachshund-like dogs have appeared in art from ancient Egypt and Mexico. During World War I, the breed lost popularity due to its Germanic origins, but these prejudices have been set aside, and the dog is again a favorite family pet and hunting companion. Miniature Dachshunds were historically used to hunt rabbits.
